Visual Impairments Programme
19 Aug 2021

At the start of August we held a Visual impairments Programme in the Peak District.

It was fantastic to give the team the confidence to try new things - just because you're visually impaired, it doesn’t mean you can’t do an abseil!

Following the trip we had some amazing feedback from the group, which yet again reminds us why we do what we do.

Thank you to everyone who attended the trip, and for making these outcomes happen!

Here's some of the participant feedback:

“I felt defeated and deflated before I arrived… now I’ve got the inner strength to carry on and deal with the ongoing issues in my life”

“This week has given me the tools to enable me to regain control of my life”

“Thank you for helping me to like myself again and to acknowledge that I’ve achieved a lot and will be able to do more. You’ve helped me clear the fog and see a new path ahead” Sally

“The tools we’ve learnt this week will enable me to tackle obstacles in a smart, efficient and effective way”

“Climbing Out has helped me move from a victim mindset to a mindset where I can look forward positively and focus on what I can do” Fred

“I’ve walked away with the tools to get my life back on track” Musama

“The person I am leaving as on Friday is a far cry from the person that arrived on Monday” Lucy

“2years ago I didn’t care if I lived or died, but a week with the inspirational Kelda and her team has given me powerful tools to help me… climb out!”

“Life looks brighter and I’m very excited for what the future holds for me” Kinnari

“Where to start?

Kelda Wood – An inspiration, a legend!

Dukes Barn – Awesome place, even more awesome staff!

Climbing Out Team – Thanks to you all from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, patience and commitment.

To our sponsors – I am willing to bet you have no real sense of the good that Kelda and all involved in Climbing Out are doing.

It’s all made possible by a team effort, from you – right down to us!

Thank you so much, THANK YOU!” Steve
