It’s time to get ready for the Climbing Out Annual Fundraising Hike and this year we’re heading to the Lake District for the Langdale Peaks Challenge! It's taking place on Saturday, 30th September 2023.
There will be 3 different routes, with the most challenging route taking on some of the most iconic peaks in the Lake District and climbing more ascent than the height of Snowdon.
All you have to do to take part is raise a minimum of £150 for Climbing Out and get walking!
You have the option to book accommodation on the Friday and/or Saturday night. Places in the hostel are available on a first come first served basis, or there are more options up the road.
It’s a really sociable weekend, with lots of laughs! You can join in with a meal at the hostel on the Friday evening, and a celebratory meal at the pub on the Saturday. It’s a great adventure, and it’s always lovely to see people making friends and supporting one another on the hike.
All of the routes have a significant level of elevation so please be realistic about your fitness levels and capabilities before choosing your route.
There are 3 routes to choose from:
A challenging but enjoyable climb up to Stickle Tarn.
Distance 3 miles
Ascent – 388m
Time 3-4hrs (steady pace)
You’ll also climb up to Stickle Tarn, and then will tick off 6 more iconic Lake District Peaks.

This is a challenging but rewarding route, climbing more total ascent than the height of Snowdon. You’ll tick off the same peaks as route 2, but you’ll then head off to conquer the 7th peak of Rossett Pike.

Ascent – 1118m
