Zoe is taking part in a Level 3 programme this year – a wilderness canoeing expedition around the Isles of Scilly. She’s been working on ideas to raise funds for the trip, which is all part of the process of giving participants more responsibility on a Level 3 programme, to help them develop their resilience and confidence.
In June, myself and a group of incredibly inspiring humans plan to go on a sea kayaking trip to the Isles of Scilly. We’ll be camping and facing some pretty big challenges altogether on the expedition.
I was lucky enough to meet this group of people through the Climbing Out charity. For those of you who don’t know, this is a charity that helps people facing a wide range of physical and mental challenges, and was instrumental in helping myself and my partner through a tough time.
Zak has been going from strength to strength since our trip with Climbing Out in the summer, and this project has really given him such a sense of purpose. It’s been life changing for us. He gets such a boost after every conversation he has with Kelda.
Now with a renewed sense of purpose and an ‘I can’ attitude, no challenge seems too big and we have started preparing for our big trip in June. As part of this project, we are looking to raise funds for the charity/trip. Here is a sneak peek at something I’ve been working on - a collection of hand painted ceramics will be for sale/auction soon. So, watch this space if you’re interested in seeing how these pieces progress and or eventually purchasing one in support of Climbing Out.
p.s. huge thanks to Art 4 Fun cafe in West Hampstead for kindly donating ceramics for this project!
