Our first programme specifically for Renal patients took place at the end of July, and what an amazing week it was! Our aim was to show that it’s still possible to do everything, despite dialysis.
Well these young people did that in bucket loads!
These young people were truly amazing and achieved so much.
Here’s just a few words from the week which show just how much impact the programme had:
“Before coming I was socially awkward and struggled making good friends. Since meeting the Climbing Out crew, I’ve met great new people who understand what we’re all going through. I’m now more confident in myself and believe I can do more” Jonny
“I came to Snowdonia finding it difficult to spend time around people…this week has been life changing for me. I sincerely feel that after having a difficult few years I can now get my life back on track again” Jamie
“As someone who has recently been diagnosed with kidney failure I desperately needed a confidence boost and an opportunity to meet people in a similar situation. This week has pushed me to face fears and anxieties, as well as give me the tools to improve my state of mind beyond this week” Jen
And from one of the renal support workers….
“This trip has smashed all my expectations. I’ve been working with these young people for many months and to see the change in them is remarkable.
The environment has allowed them to explore who they are, what life is about and has been a much needed reset button.
The model run by Climbing Out genuinely seems like the gold standard!” Shaun
Awesome words! Awesome young people! An awesome team!
